Peter N. Gray and Metal-I-genics Studio
People think that art fits solely in culture, and that science is not culture. I’m interested in science generated as a cultural necessity. Innovations in technology require a thoughtful response from artists who are awake to their own time. I use the hard malleable metals steel and bronze to awaken our inner scientist as I express the inherent softer organic sculptural aesthetics of biological systems. I am inspired by the aesthetics of genetics and microbiology, often using them in sculpture to bring artistic aspects of science into the realm of each person. Large-scale public sculptures are in permanent collections of sculpture parks as well as a Chicago public school. Other 2- and 3- dimensional works are in many private collections.

In addition to interior and exterior sculpture and paintings, Metal-i-Genics Studio does Custom Steel Design & Fabrication, Planters,
Interior Steps & Stairs, Fireplace Mantles, and Fireplaces.
